Many people across West Michigan will be headed to the lakeshore to celebrate Independence Day.
There are some things to keep in mind to have a safe holiday while on the lake. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says wearing life vests is the number one most important thing plus being extremely mindful of alcohol consumption.
They want everyone to be mindful of the high water levels as well and respect the water.
