Bicyclist hit and killed in Holland

HOLLAND, Mich. — A woman is dead after being hit by a pick-up truck while riding her bike.

The crash happened shortly after 8:30 Monday evening at US-31 and E. 16th Street.

Witnesses told police the victim was trying to cross E. 16th Street when she was hit. Investigators say it appears the vehicle had the right of way.

The victim’s name is not being released until family members are notified, however, investigators say she was 18-years-old.

The vehicle involved was a 98 Ford Ranger driven by a 21-year-old man. He was not injured.

Southbound US-31 is expected to be closed for several hours while police investigate.
