Another major snowfall possible for the weekend

WEST MICHIGAN -- Another major snowfall is likely for the area for early in the weekend. That storm will be followed by another blast of cold air for early next week with some lake-effect snow.

Our Future Track model shows snow spreading into West Michigan by late Friday afternoon or early evening. Initially, the snow will be fairly light.

As the storm tracks into Missouri early Saturday morning the snow will become heavier across all of West Michigan. Some freezing rain or sleet is possible well south of I-94.

The snow will slowly diminish by later in the day on Saturday as the low pressure system track just to our south. Some freezing drizzle is possible by evening and amounts should be light. Some lighter snow is possible late Saturday night for West Michigan as colder air slides in behind the storm.

Different computer models have a variety of snowfall across the area by Saturday evening. At this point it looks like around 5-10 inches of snow is likely, with perhaps lighter amounts to the south of Grand Rapids.
