2 adults, 1 juvenile in custody for Grand Haven Twp. armed robbery

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Three people are being held on charges related to an armed robbery in Ottawa County on Friday night.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:50 p.m. Friday deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery of an individual near the Westco gas station at 14750 Mercury Drive in Grand Haven Township. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies obtained descriptions of three suspects and a vehicle involved.

A Grand Haven Department of Public Safety lieutenant located the vehicle and followed it until marked cars arrived. One passenger fled from the vehicle, was located by a Grand Haven Public Safety canine unit and was taken into custody.

The canine unit also located the weapons involved in the armed robbery.

Sheriff’s units then stopped the suspect vehicle and took two additional suspects into custody.

Two adults and one juvenile are in custody on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

The two adults were identified as Marlon Sutton-Kelly, 19, of Norton Shores and Joshua Smelker, 17, of Grand Haven. They are being held in the Ottawa County jail and were arraigned on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

The 15-year-old juvenile is being held on the same two charges. He is awaiting a detention hearing and has not been named.
