Ottawa Co Commissioner Dennis Van Dam dies

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — An Ottawa County commissioner Dennis Van Dam died Tuesday morning at the age of 64.

The District 6 commissioner died in hospice after a battle with cancer, according to a release.

Van Dam also served on the Ottawa County planning and policy committee, the talent and recruitment Committee, the West Michigan Enforcement Team board, and Michigan’s community corrections board. He also worked as the district director to state senator Arlan Meekhof. He was a broker with Visser Development for more than 30 years.

A visitation for Van Dam will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Yntema Funeral Home at 251 South State St in Zeeland. His funeral will be Monday afternoon at Oackland Christian Reformed Church in Hamilton.
