Driver leaves scene after chase; leaves 1-year-old in car seat

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Police are searching for a man who led police on a chase and then left behind a one-year-old boy after crashing.

Township police say that they tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation Tuesday afternoon on Henson near Gull Road.  The vehicle sped away and police chased it a short distance.  The driver crashed into a utility pole near Trimble and Highland and the driver, a black male in his late teens or early 20’s ran from the scene.  He left behind the child, who was strapped in his car seat.

The child was taken to the hospital and checked injuries.  He was not hurt and taken to his mother.
