CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. – A beaver journeyed away from its dam on Monday and shuffled into a Maryland dollar store where it started misbehaving.
A corporal with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s office got a call for assistance from employees.
The beaver made a beeline for the store’s holiday decorations.
In photos shared by the sheriff’s office, the beaver can be seen walking the aisles. It was photographed looking up at the artificial Christmas trees and pawing at the holiday placemat selection.
When it came to some seasonal offerings, the beaver didn’t give a damn about its wild behavior. It tossed some items on the floor.
After all pictures were snapped and the beaver corralled, Cpt. Yingling charged the beaver with property destruction (not really).
The sheriff’s office did say, “all joking aside, the beaver was safely rescued by animal control & was released to a wildlife rehabilitator.”
