Man dies, two other hurt in Muskegon County crash

CEDAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 24-year-old man died and two others were hurt after a crash in Muskegon County over the weekend.

It happened just after 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ryerson Road and Maple Island Road on Saturday.

The 24-year-old man was driving east on Ryerson Road when he reportedly drove over the center line and struck another vehicle, according to Michigan State Police.. His  26-year-old male passenger was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive. The driver was also taken to the hospital, where he later died. On Monday, Michigan State Police identify Cody Shelton as the man who died in the crash.

The other driver, a 50-year-old Fremont woman, was hospitalized at Hackley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol was not a factor and all people involved were wearing seat belts.
