TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An 18-year-old is dead after police say he crashed hie vehicle while trying to pass another vehicle.
It happened in the area of Red Pine Drive just north of 18 Mile Road around 3:10 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the driver, now identified as Isiah Slater, tried to pass another vehicle when his car veered off the roadway, rolled over and struck several trees.
Slater was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to authorities.
Deputies say speed may have been a factor in the crash, but do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role.
