WYOMING, Mich. — A Grand Rapids woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident Saturday morning.

At 6:50 a.m. Saturday, the Wyoming Department of Public Safety was called to Chicago Drive and Wendler Avenue SW on the report of a serious crash involving two vehicles. The investigation showed that an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle head-on.

The westbound vehicle was driven by Polita Saavedraleon, 24, of Grand Rapids. She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was a 28-year-old Kentwood man. Police said they are not releasing his name because crash investigators are attempting to learn more details of the accident and whether alcohol and/or speed were factors.

Police told FOX 17 that driver was taken to the hospital but only “to be checked out.”

The crash remains under investigation by Wyoming Public Safety. Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the Wyoming Department of Public Safety at (616) 530-7300 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
