This year’s 12 finalists for the National Toy Hall of Fame include longtime classics: the swing, coloring books and even bubble wrap.
Some more modern selections also made the list, including Dungeons and Dragons, Rock `Em Sock `Em Robots and Care Bears.
Only two or three of these will join the 59 toys currently in the hall, which is housed in the strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. According to a strong spokesman, the selection committee is looking for truly “iconic” toys.
