OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Eastbound I-96 was down to one lane between Marne and Walker Wednesday after a crash involving multiple vehicles.
The crash was reported at about 4:07 p.m, with deputies saying it involves two semi-trucks and a third vehicle. Mark Hillard, 48, from Kaleva, MI was driving his semi when he rear-ended another semi-truck from Ohio, who had slowed down after being involved with a separate crash with a third vehicle.
The crash resulted in Hillard being pinned inside. He was pulled out with the jaws of life.
Deputies say Hillard was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Nobody else was hurt.
The highway was initially shut down after the crash but the highway has since reopened.
