ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 52-year-old man has been arrested on numerous charges after allegedly attempting to abduct his estranged wife.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department says the incident was reported at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 6000 block of Adaway Court SE.    The person who called 911 said the man was armed with a gun and attempted to force the woman into a vehicle, according to a release.

The woman fled and was with the 911 caller when the incident was reported, officials said.

The suspect, Simon John Hatley, was found a short time later and arrested.   Police said in a release he was riding a bike at the time of his arrest and had an airsoft pistol that “had the looks of a real handgun.”

Hatley faces charges of assault with intent to commit a felony of unlawful imprisonment, armed robbery, aggravated stalking and a felony weapons offense, according to a release.
