Armed robbery reported at Western Michigan University

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Western Michigan University says a campus alert was triggered Monday night after an armed robbery was reported near a dorm.

In a release, WMU says a male student told campus police he was meeting someone in the parking of the Western Heights residence hall for a cellphone sale just before 9 p.m. The student was sitting in his car when a suspect pulled a handgun and demanded he hand over all his cash. The student was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set male driving a silver Pontiac vehicle.
