Portage police looking for U-Haul driver who fled

PORTAGE, Mich. — Police in Portage are investigating after a driver crashed a U-Haul truck into a tree Saturday evening and took off.

It happened about 6:10 p.m. in the 2200 block of Woody Noll Drive.

Witnesses say that the driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was seen running north on foot after the crash.

Police set up a perimeter and called in the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety K-9 unit to help look for the driver but were unsuccessful.
