CHARLEVOIX, Mich. – A Charlevoix man has been charged with Assault with intent to murder and Assaulting, Restricting and Obstructing a Police Officer for an incident late last week.

Steve Martin, 63, was arrested for the incident on October 21st.

According to court documents, a Charlevoix County deputy, Nathan Kaminski, pulled over a vehicle in Hayes Township when Martin came to the scene in his 1998 Chevy truck.  The person in the vehicle resisted and struggled with Kaminski and another officer, and Kaminski used his taser on the suspect.  When that happened, Martin allegedly sped up in his truck towards the officers, nearly striking them.

Kaminski fired three times at Martin’s truck, and hit Martin.  His vehicle stopped and he was taken into custody.

Police say that Kaminski has twice been convicted of resisting and obstructing police officers.
