GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — No suspect was found inside a home on Collins Street on the city's south east side after police had it surrounded for hours believed a suspect in a recent shooting was inside.
According to GRPD, when officers arrived on scene in the 1900 block of Collins SE several people scattered with one person running into a nearby home. Shots were fired at Garfield Park but no one was injured, according to police on scene.
Police officers surrounded a home, believing a potentially armed man in his early 20s was inside.
A negotiator was called in and officers eventually entered the home but it was empty.
Residents nearby were urged to shelter in place while police set up a perimeter.
Police initially said at least one other person was believed to be in the house, but later said they thought the suspect was the only person inside.
