NELSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 41-year-old Rockford woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday in Nelson Township.

The crash happened at about 10:34 a.m. at 18 Mile Road and Myers Lake Avenue.   The Kent County Sheriff’s Department says Kellie Lynn Austin was driving a red Dodge Caravan south on Myers Lake when she pulled out in front of an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban.

The Suburban, driven by 30-year-old Tia Nicole Powell, of Gowan, hit the Caravan on the front passenger side, according to a release.   The Suburban then struck a power pole.

Austin was unconscious when emergency crews arrived at the scene.   Powell and two passengers, including a 2-year-old boy, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to a release.
