Two hour ‘soft lockdown’ at Allegan Public Schools

Posted

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — Allegan Public Schools were under a lockdown for about two hours Thursday.

Superintendent Kevin Harness says the district was contacted by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, saying they were looking for someone in the area.

It’s not clear who the person was or why the sheriff’s office was looking for them, but the department said there were safety concerns.

As a precaution, two elementary schools and the middle and high school buildings were placed under a soft lockdown, meaning all the students were kept inside.
