Fall is the perfect weather to be outdoors and discover nature, and there's a place to do it just outside of Grand Rapids.
At the Blandford Nature Center there's over 140 acres of woodland area, and miles of trails to explore.
Blandford is home to nearly 30 animals that can be found in West Michigan wildlife. However these animals are either injured or have grown too accustomed to humans, so they aren't able to survive in their natural habitat without human assistance.
Along the trails, visitors can view how Blandford collects sap from the trees and uses it to make maple syrup.
When families need a break from the outdoors, they can check out the Visitor's Center. The nature center also has classes, festivals, and other activities year round so there's always something going on for people of all ages.
The Blandford Nature Center is offering a Thrifty Thursday deal to Morning Mix viewers. They're giving away a coupon for free general admission to their facility.
In order to redeem this offer, head to their Facebook page, "like" the Blandford Nature Center, and download the coupon. The coupon can be either printed out or downloaded on a mobile device, and shown when you check in at the Visitor's Center.
The Visitor's Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. The coupon expires on November 30 and excludes admission to special events or programs.
The Blandford Nature Center is located at 1715 Hillburn Avenue Northwest. For more information, call (616) 735-6240.
