East Grand Rapids Public Safety captain graduates from FBI Academy

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– 230 law enforcement officers recently graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and an East Grand Rapids Public Safety Captain was one of them.

Captain Ric Buikema was part of the 10 week program training selected officers that have proven to be top professionals in their agencies. This was the 265th session that consisted of both men and women from 47 different states.

Buikema was one of the five attendees from the state of Michigan and the first officer from East Grand Rapids Public Safety to attend in more than 12 years.

“I was able to meet the new agents who will be coming to the Grand Rapids field office,” Buikema said in a press release. “We got to talk and exchange information, which was beneficial to develop working relationships with the new agents we will be working with.”

Despite the grueling Marine corps style physical endurance tests and the long hours of education, Buikema says he just simply feels honored to have been selected.
