The shooting happened early Sunday at Clearance Outlet on 28th Street near Kalamazoo Avenue. Police say they were called to the area for a large party at about 3:45 a.m., and were notified that shots were fired while they were en route.
Juwan Boykin, 21, was killed and eight other people were injured in the shooting.
Fred Yaya, the owner of Clearance Outlet, says that the building was cleared out this weekend for an employee's birthday party.
"I'm shaking right now," Yaya said. "It's not a pleasant situation and it is very, very, very sad."
Police are currently pulling surveillance video to see how events unfolded.
