Muskegon Hts. resident dies in Friday morning crash

NORTON SHORES, Mich. – A Muskegon Heights man is dead after a crash Friday morning.

The crash happened at the corner of Seminole and Henry Street in Norton Shores.

Witnesses told police that a 2008 Chevy Equinox was speeding and ran the red light while heading west on Seminole. It struck a 2005 GMC Yukon that was heading north on Henry Street.  The crash also took out a power pole and a fire hydrant.

The driver of the Equinox, a 72-year-old man from Muskegon Heights, died a short time later at the hospital.  The driver of the Yukon, a 62-year-old man from Laketon Township, is being treated for injuries at the hospital.

Police are still investigating.
