SOUTH HAVEN, Mich.– The Historical Association of South Haven (HASH) announced the completion of the exterior of the South Haven Lighthouse Restoration Project.

The reveal of the work done on the 114-year-old landmark will occur on Oct. 7 at 9:30 a.m. According to a press release, workers removed 10 coats of paint and re-painted it with 52 gallons of fresh red paint.

FOX 17 reported in September that the lighthouse started to receive a very well-deserved makeover after a fundraising effort from HASH raised $300,000. The South Pier was closed off while the work was being completed. A formal re-dedication of the lighthouse will occur next spring.
