ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two people were arrested Saturday after a man was shot at an apartment complex near Grand Valley State University.
It happened in the 4400 block of Lake Michigan Drive shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.
The victim is described as a 28-year-old Grand Rapids man, who is not a student.
Police say he was found conscious and alert in the parking lot of the Lake Michigan Drive Apartments.
He was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery and at last check was listed in critical condition.
Police say witnesses to the shooting may have drove off in a black sedan.
GVSU issued a safety alert to students Saturday morning telling students about the shooting.
