Todd’s Weekend Adventures: Pumpkins and more pumpkins

and last updated

There’s always plenty to do in and around Grand Rapids, but Todd’s weekend adventures are always aimed at events for the whole family.

Walker Pumpkin Bash

In case you missed it earlier this week, the 2016 Walker Pumpkin Bash is back for another year and will be giving away free mini pumpkins to the first 1,000 kids.

There will be a petting zoo,  obstacle course, cider and donuts, arts and crafts to personalize your pumpkin, and more.

The best part? The entire event is free, even the cider and donuts.

Coopersville & Marne Railway Pumpkin Train

If you want to take a fun fall trip on a train, this one is for you. The famous Pumpkin Train at Coopersville and Marne Railway has fired up the engines once again.

You and the kids will be joined by the grand pumpkin, scarecrow, and little crow characters and each children’s ticket includes a pumpkin they can pick from their patch at the end of the ride.

Rides take place on Saturdays and Sundays now through October 30. Tickets range from $15-$18, kids 2-years-old and under are free and also get a free mini pumpkin.

Cinderella at Broadway GR

Broadway Grand Rapids presents Cinderella,  and this is the final weekend so don’t miss out on tickets.

The tony-award winning musical puts a contemporary twist on the classic tale, but the pumpkin, glass slipper, and other traditional elements are all still there.

The music is from Rodgers and Hammerstein, so you know the songs are fantastic.
