KALAMAZOO, Mich. — One man is behind bars after police in Kalamazoo say he walked into a home and assaulted someone.
Around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were sent to a reported home invasion in the 1200 block of California Street. Police say a 23-year-old man walked into an unlocked door of an apartment and attacked somebody inside. The suspect was gone by the time police showed up.
Investigators soon spotted the suspect’s vehicle used in the incident parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Miller Road. Police surrounded the home. The suspect was hiding in the garage and eventually surrendered.
The suspect was taken to jail for 1st degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property. Police say he may face additional charges after drugs were found at his home.
