THREE RIVERS, Mich. – A man wanted on multiple weapons charges and outstanding warrants was arrested early Friday morning after a standoff with responding officers.
Three Rivers police department learned that Jaden Maurice Miars, a man Three Rivers police have been searching for, was inside a home in the 800 block of Fourth Street.
Officers tried to make contact with Miars and arrest him for his outstanding warrants but when officers knocked at the door Miars answered and ran back into the house.
Since deputies believed Miars was likely armed inside the home they immediately secured the perimeter of the home with the help of the St. Joseph Sheriff’s Department and its Special Response Team.
Deputies say they began negotiating with Miars around 1:30 a.m. but he would not comply. Shortly after 4:00 a.m. the St. Joseph County’s Special Response Team entered the home and started searching for Miars.
Miars was found hiding in a crawl space and eventually surrendered to officers, according to a release from the Three Rivers Police Department.
He remains in the St. Joseph County jail without bond facing several charges.
