Grand Rapids Heart Walk kicks off Saturday to raise awareness for heart disease

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- There’s no question that heart disease and strokes have affected many families across West Michigan.

That’s why the American Heart Association is hosting its Grand Rapids Heart Walk Saturday to raise funds and awareness for heart disease and strokes, which are the number one and number five killers in the United States.

The Heart Walk kicks off with an opening ceremony at Granger Green Campus of Metro Health. The event is designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living with fun activities  for the entire family to enjoy.

At last check, participants have raised nearly $160,000 of their $320,000 goal.

The Kalamazoo Heart Walk is also happening Saturday at the Mayors Riverfront Stadium with opening ceremonies starting at 9 a.m.
