Ice Guru Randy Finch is known for his breathtaking ice sculptures, but when he entered this year's ArtPrize competition, he decided to take a different approach.
Randy is trying something new and sculpting pumpkins instead of ice, just in time to welcome the Fall season. He takes a picture of a person's face, transforms it into a 3D computer image, then has that image carved into a pumpkin. After the bulk of the face is carved, he takes smaller tools and adds the finishing touches.
Todd went to his studio to check out all the pumpkins he's worked on so far, and to see him and Leigh Ann transformed into pumpkins.
Check out Randy's pumpkins at 29 Gay Avenue Southeast just off Fulton Street, and maybe you'll get a chance for your face to be on a pumpkin.
