IONIA, Mich. - Two people wanted on outstanding warrants were injured after crashing during a high speed chase Wednesday night.
The incident started about 9:30pm when Ionia County Central Dispatch issued a message to be on the lookout for a black SUV which had been involved in a hit and run of a parked car and fled from the Ionia Department of Public Safety.
At about 9:50pm, a Michigan State Police trooper from Lakeview spotted the vehicle on the north side of Ionia. The driver took off again and headed east on Nickel Plate Road. It crashed and rolled off the road near Stage Road.
A 36-year-old man, who was driving, and a 42-year-old woman were extricated from the vehicle. They are both in serious, but stable condition. Both people are from the Ionia area, according to police, and both were wanted on outstanding warrants. Police say the vehicle was registered to a third party in Lowell.
Police are still investigating and charges are pending.
