WALKER, Mich. -- A Walker neighborhood was locked down for hours Tuesday afternoon after police say a man pulled out a gun, threatened others and refused to exit a home.

The situation started at roughly 12 p.m. near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Hillside Drive. Tactical units from multiple law enforcement agencies showing up in full force.

" An uncooperative suspect who does not want to surrender," Says Greg Long, Chief of police in Walker. "That's why we take all the precautions. That's why there are so many armored vehicles. Those are to protect the officers."

A woman was seen running out of the barricaded home at about 2:45 p.m., and the suspect, armed with a handgun, was arrested just after 6:00 p.m.

Police say that woman was being held hostage by the suspect.  But negotiators convinced him to release her.
