GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--An annual German beer festival is taking place in Beer City this week. Oktoberfest West Michigan kicks off this weekend, partnering with Kids' Food Basket to help fight childhood hunger.
Last year, organizers of the beer festival helped feed thousands of kids, and this year, they're hoping to feed even more.
Oktoberfest West Michigan is the largest traditional festival based off the Bavarian celebration of the same name. For beer lovers, the official sponsor is Erdinger, the world's largest wheat brew brewery. It's also family-friendly, with games and activities taking place throughout both days of the celebration.
The event takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23rd and 24th, from noon to 11 p.m. in John Ball Park. It costs five dollars to get in. For more information, you canvisit the Oktoberfest West Michigan website.
