Man charged with shooting gun under the influence of drugs

WILCOX TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 44-year-old White Cloud man is facing numerous charges after allegedly firing a handgun inside a home while under the influence of drugs.

Police were called to a home in the 2900 block of N. 2nd Street at about 5:40 a.m. Thursday after the shooting, according to a release from the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department.

The man allegedly fired several shots inside and outside the home.  A 19-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man who were present during the shooting were not injured.

Shortly after the incident, the man was located driving a motorcycle on M-37 north of White Cloud, according to a release.   Police say a handgun was recovered from the motorcycle.

The man is being charged with felonious assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm, a concealed carry weapon violation and operating under the influence of drugs.   He will be identified pending formal arraignment.
