BYRON TWP., Mich. - A Gaines Township woman died Tuesday morning in a crash on 76th Street.
The crash happened on 76th Street and Caterpillar Court SW at about 6:45am. Kent County Sheriff deputies say that Melinda Farias, 60, was driving north on Caterpillar Court and did not stop at the stop sign for 76th Street. Her Pontiac Grand Prix was hit by an eastbound GMC Acadia driven by a 28-year-old Byron Center woman.
The Grand Prix caught fire and Farias was pronounced dead at the scene. The Acadia driver, Jenny Rodgers, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
