COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 6-year-old was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle Saturday evening.

It happened around 7:10 p.m. in the 6500 block of E. JK Avenue in Comstock Township.

A vehicle driven by a 16-year-old driver apparently hit the child who was riding a motorized scooter out of the entrance of a nearby apartment complex, according to a release from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.

The child reportedly rode the bike into the roadway and was critically injured when hit by the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
