THREE RIVERS, Mich.– An attempt to arrest one suspect turned into the arrest of another in Three Rivers on Wednesday night.
Just before midnight on Wednesday, Three Rivers officers noticed a man and woman walking on S. Main St. near Michigan Ave. in Three Rivers. The man was someone they recognized as having a warrant for his arrest.
An officer came back to the area to locate the man and verify his identity, but he had disappeared. Officers requested the help of a resident walking their dogs, asking them to call 911 if they saw anyone that matched the suspect’s description.
After half an hour, the resident called 911 and informed police where they had last seen the man that matched the description.
An officer searching the area approached a wooded area, and the man ran across S. Main St. and into the backyards of some residences before being arrested.
The suspect that was arrested happened to be a different one than who police were looking for, 31-year-old Gregory Hudgins.
Hudgins had four warrants for his arrest in St. Joseph County, two being felonies without bonds. He is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail without bond.
