SOUTH HAVEN, Mich.– The South Haven lighthouse has been standing as a West Michigan landmark for 114 years. It is receiving a well-deserved make over that began Tuesday.
The Historical Association of South Haven raised $300,000 in funding to bring some new life to the old lighthouse. Crews are installing scaffolding and doing various repair work, sandblasting and painting.
The work is expected to be completed is five weeks, but it could possibly take longer depending on the weather. The South Pier will be closed to the public during the renovation.
