KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Sparta police confirm a suspect is in custody following a high speed pursuit of a stolen truck through two counties Sunday evening.
According to dispatch reports, police began pursuing the suspect in a stolen truck in Muskegon County on Apple Avenue near Maple Island Road around 7:30 p.m. The suspect then entered Kent County, driving southbound on M-37.
Speeds at one point reportedly exceeded 100 mph.
The pursuit of the stolen silver truck proceeded south before stopping in Sparta where the suspect exited the vehicle and ran into a cornfield around 8 p.m., dispatch reports indicated.
The suspect was taken into custody in the area of 12 Mile Road in Sparta around 8:30 p.m Sunday.
