STURGIS, Mich. — The Sturgis Fire Department is investigating a fire that damaged a house’s exterior early Sunday morning.
At 4:33 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 225 N. Fourth St. They responded and found a residential structure with a fire on the outside of the house. There was an occupant of the house attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose upon arrival.
Fire crews immediately ensured that all the occupants were out of the house and then fully extinguished the fire on the outside of the home. There was some extension of fire into the home’s attic.
Firefighters remained on scene until 6:39 a.m. performing overhaul and fully extinguishing the fire.
No injuries to the house’s occupants or firefighters were reported.
The exterior of the home sustained substantial fire damage.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
