GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The holiday weekend is here and traffic heading out of town is tight.
Many road construction projects were put on hold for the holiday to help with traffic and that has made for some happy drivers. Some projects, like Lake Drive in East Grand Rapids and the Leonard Street bridge are now complete. Other projects, like US-131 between Ann and Leonard, will resume after the holiday. "Well, there's over a million drivers on Labor Day weekend," says John Richard, MDOT Communication Representative for the Grand Region. "It's a heavy, heavy traffic holiday weekend. So whatever restrictions we can remove, we will."
