DETROIT (AP) — The 59-year-old co-owner of a Detroit restaurant has been shot and killed during an apparent attempted robbery.
Franco Juncaj was found Thursday morning by the door at his Detroit Coney Island on the city’s west side. He had been shot in the chest.
Juncaj is believed to have been shot between 8:30 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. Thursday. Police say nothing appeared to be taken from the restaurant and cash still was in the register.
Detroit Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt called the slaying “a senseless loss of life” and says officers from Detroit and nearby River Rouge frequented the restaurant and knew the owner.
