LAKE MICHIGAN – Beach Hazard alerts have been posted for the Lake Michigan shoreline due to high waves and strong currents for Wednesday and Thursday.
The alerts are in effect from St. Joseph to Manistee. Winds are expected to start from the north/northeast and swing to the north/northwest at 15 to 25 knots. Waves are expected to build to 3 to 5 feet. Rip currents, strong longshore currents and strong structural currents are all expected, lasting through Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service says that beaches that are particularly affected are North Beach in South Haven, Holland State Park, Muskegon State Park, Mears State Park in Pentwater and Stearns Park in Ludington.
