Rainy start, cooler finish to the weekend

Posted

WEST MICHIGAN- A very active pattern has been settling in for us recently with several rain chances and that will be a similar setup for us this weekend as well.

A cold front to our northwest is sparking showers and thunderstorms and that will be the catalyst for our rain, along with much cooler weather this weekend.

Fast forwarding to Saturday afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead of the front with some stronger ones developing as well.  With our very humid airmass, it’s likely we’ll see some very heavy rainfall totals yet again.

Severe Weather Threats

In addition to that, some isolated severe weather is possible as well.  The main threats include gusty winds and small hail.  This will likely occur in the afternoon and evening hours, so keep a close eye on radar and have a plan B in case you’re outdoors and need to get somewhere else safely and quickly.

Garry Rainfall Totals (2)

It’s possible yet again that we’ll see rainfall totals over two inches in some areas as we have thunderstorms move slowly or continue to develop over the same areas throughout the day.

It will also feel a lot more like fall toward the tail end of the weekend and carry into early next week with low 70s for highs and mornings in the 50s!  This also brings less humidity to West Michigan as well, with a few days to dry out.
