GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department is searching for an officer’s body camera that came up missing on Saturday night.

At 10 p.m. Saturday, GRPD officers responded to the 800 block of Prince Street SE for a report of a loud party with loud music. When officers arrived they heard the music from down the street, which is a violation of city code.

Police said the situation deteriorated, resulting in the arrest of four people. During one of the arrests a person became actively resistant. The arresting officer’s body camera was knocked off its mount and fell to the ground. The camera was picked up by another person, who refused to return the camera and threw it into a neighboring yard.

The body camera was evidently picked up by someone else in the crowd prior to officers being able to retrieve it.

No citizens or officers were injured during this incident.

Police are asking for assistance in locating the body camera. Anyone who has the camera or who has any information related to the incident should contact the Grand Rapids Police Department by calling (616) 456-3604 or Silent Observer by calling (616) 774-2345 or confidentially at http://www.silentobserver.org on the Web.
