GALESBURG, Mich. - Nearly$30,000 of designer purses and other luxury items were stolen earlier this week from a store in Galesburg and police are asking for help in finding the thieves.
Kathleen Fett, owner of Images of Galesburg, says she came into the store Monday morning and didn't notice anything was out of the ordinary. But then when she stepped inside, she tripped over one of the purses that the suspects had apparently dropped on their way out. She immediately called police and reported 50-60 designer purses and other items stolen, including wallets, suitcases, umbrellas and even a bottle of cologne.
"They left cheap wallets and $30 purses," said Fett. "But they knew where the more expensive wallets were."
Fett says she is devastated and believes that the suspect is someone who has been in the store recently. Police have been investigating all week. They are asking the public to be on the lookout for anyone selling high-priced items at low costs, in unusual places. If you see anything suspicious, you should call police as soon as possible.
Fett is also offering a reward. Anyone with information should call the store at 269-207-7810 or Galesburg Police at 269-665-7892. Fett says in a Facebook post that she has surveillance video of the culprits.
