CHICAGO -- Residents in the Bucktown neighborhood in Chicago are on alert after a man apparently broke into a home and watched a couple as they slept on the couch, according to WGN.
Surveillance video captured the man inside the home early Monday morning. Jack Mackercher and his girlfriend fell asleep on the couch and were unaware an intruder was roaming around upstairs.
The video shows the intruder lurking at the top of the stairs while the couple slept downstairs. The man was inside the home for 15 minutes, at one point stopping to watch television before leaving.
When Mackercher's girlfriend noticed her purse missing the next morning, they checked the surveillance video. The couple believes the man entered the home through an unlocked sliding door in the master bedroom.
Detectives are investigating this case and similar cases in the area.
