MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich – The search for a known violent offender has ended following an arrest in Muskegon Heights on Monday evening, federal authorities say.

Imari Watkins, 24, was taken into custody after a police foot chase in the 2600 block of 6th Street.  Officers with the Muskegon Heights Police Department made the arrest around 7:30 p.m.

Watkins was first featured on West Michigan’s Most Wanted in November 2015 after several warrants were issued for his arrest.

Watkins was wanted by the Muskegon Township Police Department for failing to appear in court on a domestic violence assault charge.  A warrant was issued for that offense in January 2015.

Watkins was also wanted by the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department for failing to appear in court on an auto theft charge.  A warrant was issued for that offense in April 2015.

The West Michigan Enforcement Team had been looking for Watkins since January 2015 on a drug warrant involving cocaine.

Federal authorities say he’s also facing charges for domestic assault and battery.
