KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Bottles were thrown at Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers who broke up a large party early Sunday.

At 3 a.m. Sunday, Public Safety officers responded to the 900 block of Hays Park after numerous area residents reported a large party, noise violations and trespassing. Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered a crowd of about 30 people and vehicles that refused to cooperate or allow vehicular traffic through the roadway.

The crowd quickly swelled to about 150 people and became openly hostile toward police. Officers had numerous bottles thrown at them before they were able to disperse the crowd successfully.

No officers or citizens were injured.

Anyone with any information about the incident is being asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 337-8994 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
