BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Three young children who disappeared while playing outside are now home safe, after a massive search effort to find them was successful.

The children — ages 2, 4, and 6 — went missing on Tuesday night from the area of 120 Oakbrook Blvd. in Battle Creek.  Officers obtained pictures of the children and additional information, and started searching the area.  When nothing turned up, more help was requested.

Battle Creek Fire, a CERT volunteer search and rescue team, a Michigan State Police helicopter with thermal imaging all became involved in the search effort.  A large group of neighbors also arrived to help.

The massive effort proved successful.  The children were found at a residence on 24th Street, nearly five miles away.  They were not injured.
